Week 2 = Progress !!

Hello all! It’s your Sal Pals here with an update on our second week!! This has been a busy week of nutrition lessons in the classroom. We had our first lessons at the Youth Rehab Centre, and then continued throughout the week with lessons at Pigiurivik Elementary School and Ikusik High School. In the younger grades, we focused a lot on recognizing the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods and our four food groups. They made us lots of beautiful […]

We began our week with some very fun recess introductions with the students, this involved lots of sunglasses trading and age-guessing (we got everything from 12 to 29)! We also had the chance to meet with the principals at both schools and chat with a few community members about beautiful Salluit. We […]

WEEK TWO = DONE

hey homies! Today marks exactly 2 weeks since we touched down in the beautiful community of Salluit!! Last week was jam-packed with lessons on bullying, self care and healthy relationships. Sun Burns and Lung Burns

MID-WEEK UPDATE COMIN @ YA LIVE FROM SALLUIT: We have listened to Taylor Swift’s album “1989” about half a million times (and are still loving it – haters gonna hate). We have crumpled red paper hearts in front of unsuspecting grade six classes 1000 times in hopes of them one day understanding how the heart cannot be uncrumpled and how this represents “mean words” and how we can’t always take those mean words back. We have described the four types […]
