Our younger students where so good at identifying  what bullying is, and with the help of some creative colouring sheets, they learned how they can prevent and stop bullying. Our students have also gotten so good at singing […]

We finished our lessons off with an anti- bullying pledge that the students eagerly signed. The pledges are hanging in the school lobby and the students and staff are proud […]

What a week it has been! We have absolutely loved getting into the classroom to begin facilitating lessons on different health topics and getting to know each classroom. The kindergarten class is full of energy and excitement, always ready to play a game, have a dance party or read a story. We had an introduction lesson full of fun games and a hygiene lesson with glitter hands. We spent the most time with the adorable grade ½ class with an […]

On Monday, teachers had a STIP day, so there were no students in the school. This gave us a chance to catch up on lesson planning and utilise the precious school wifi! After school, we worked on establishing more community connections and headed to the RCMP to […]

A weekend in FGH: Cha Cha Slide, ATV rides and Mackenzie Mountains

We spent the morning in Yellowknife, walking to the Pilot’s Monument for a beautiful view of the city and buying groceries. Our flight to Fort Good Hope was on a very small plane that lifted into the clouds above snow and trees as far as the eyes could see. We arrived in Fort Good Hope in the evening amidst lots of snow and fog where we were greeted by the principal of Chief T’Selehye School, Morgan. After a tour of […]

Since our arrival in Webequie and we’ve had so many wonderful experiences!! Upon our arrival on Monday afternoon, we walked over to the school -SJMEC- where we received a warm welcome from the students and the staff. We learned that this time of the year is the goose hunting season and as many older students go out camping to hunt this week, the higher grade classes have taken a more informal structure. Additionally, we arrived just in time to the […]

Welcome to Salluit: the Land of Mountains, Dogs and Beautiful Culture!

With a quick overnight stay in Puvirnituq (which is so beautiful by the way!!), we made it to Salluit on Monday morning. We were instantly amazed by the beautiful geography in Salluit – the mountains, blue skies, beautiful sunsets (Kathryn’s fav… if you know, you know) and fresh air. We are already taking full advantage of the beautiful running routes in Salluit… with some pretty heavy duty hill training that is kicking our butts! The community in Salluit has been […]
